October Walleye – Upper Detroit River

October 21, 2024 //  by Kevin Johnston

10/19/24

We vertical jigged the upper Detroit River on the Canadian side. Starting at the Sturgeon hole we caught nothing until we got close to the gravel piles. The bite was slow but the species were plentiful; we caught two walleye, two drum, one channel catfish, one white perch, one goby. All fish came in on a one ounce jig with either brown Wyandotte worms or a Fin-S blue ice plastics. Depth was 22 to 28′ where we caught fish. Tried the Whiskey plant – not a strike!

Fun outing with warm weather and light breeze.

One of two walleye.
King catfish!
