May White Bass on the Detroit River

May 25, 2024 //  by Kevin Johnston

5/25/24

White bass bite was SLOW on the Detroit River. Fished from Wyandotte / BASF plant (known hot spot) down to Sugar Island. Conditions were good; bright sunshine and water clarity was slightly off from clear. Threw Kastmaster spoons, 1/16 oz jigs, Rattle Traps and crank baits. Caught half a dozen fish. Had lots of follows and when we did catch one there were many others behind the hooked fish. Ended up with six fish on a wonder Detroit River day.

Nice fish from Sugar Island with a Lake Erie background.
Dad recording proud moment on the Detroit River.
