Bluegill on Lake Saint Clair

May 29, 2024 //  by Kevin Johnston

5/29/24

Fished Lake Saint Clair mid morning to mid afternoon for bluegill. Bite was spotty; found a small school of gills under one particular boat. The other fish we caught were singles found scattered throughout the weeds. Standard rig of a float, 4 lb. test fluorocarbon leader, size 6 gold hook and a section of crawler. Fished over five hours and took home 30 gills. Caught a few small pumpkinseeds and a tiny largemouth bass.

Fatigue set in after a full day of fishing. This young man caught a few ZZ’s while I cleaned fish.
